I was perusing a Time magazine article Just last week I was scanning through a piece in Home Business magazine and found about this thing I had never heard of before called skype phones.You would be astounded what these two bright sparks did to make themselves a small fortune, they sold it to ebay.You are probably wondering what I am going on about.A lot of people call it voip.It is hardly a novel concept making a call to a friend over the world wide web without having to pay for it.
The implications are obvious, the first being that if you can attach a video phone to skipe, you can chat and see just about anyone anywhere in the world.Saying that though it is not all plain sailing as a slow connection will be of no use to you.Video bandwidth does not justify clarity over a slow connection .
So I went on Ebay and yes you guessed it, they are flogging phones already due to skyp.I guess it's been around for a couple of years already but it's catching on fast..
Due to Skypes huge success big commercial telephone companies are trying to get a foothold in the marketplace.All the telecom experts are watching voip closely thinking that maybe it will crash and burn.Will it take on the net by storm, or is it just a passing fad
If previous experience is anything to go by then we can expect the big players to examine voip in minute detail. The govt will undoubtedly see the potential and want to add money to their coffers by using voip.At the moment skype makes its money by charging people who phone land lines from their laptop using it
It seems like voice over interet protocol is also at the forefront of web video conferencing as well. Voice Over IP comes pretty close, except that it will be eventually typified as an internet phone service, ready to take that next step of video conferencing which gained a lot of attention years ago
Audio and video are becoming possible for everyone nowadays-in this day and age especially with the massive success of youtube.Everything says that audio and video will be the the hottest thing since mustard.
But one thing is for sure, it's not just hype they're muttering about, and only time will tell if the general public will catch on when they get their free skype download.We will know fairly soon how it performs .
